2013

UPDATE: The 2013 Young Writers Contest is over and the judges have selected the winners. The winning stories can be found in pdf format here. The pdf file is formatted so you can save it to a cd, dvd, or thumb drive and take it to a print shop like FedX (Kinkos) and have it printed as a spiral-bound booklet. Due to the expense of color printing, CFOL had their copies printed in black and white except for the cover which can be found here in a separate pdf. The front and back covers were done using ‘card stock,’ the rest of the pages were twenty pound weight white paper and the total cost was about $17.

=========================================
Can’t come up with a character to write about? Don’t give up! Look around! I am sure there is a true or almost true family story that you could use! How about the time your grandma found a snake in the washing machine or your little brother caught a fish bigger than he was! Write it down, using your best spelling and grammar, and enter the contest!

Are you still having trouble picking a topic? Consider writing an essay about something that is important to you. Friendship, loyalty, patriotism, family, and honesty are all good topics. The choice is yours!

Just like all contests we have a few rules and a deadline. To enter you must be in the 4th, 5th, or 6th grade. The story must be turned in to the Coweta Library by 8 pm on March 26, 2013. Don’t make it too long and don’t write on the back. We have a few more rules but a list of all the rules and the entry forms can be picked up at the Coweta Library located at 120 E. Sycamore during regular library hours, or they can be downloaded below.
